System Components

  • Two adhesive spreaders each on their support or on a common frame
  • Servo drive, cable chain, mixer unit and spreaders
  • Six metering units with variable mixing ratio
  • Four units for the base pumps and two units for the curing agent pumps
  • PLC/servo based control system with graphic HMI operator panel
  • IBC stands with tilt mechanism and containment sump for collection of spillage
  • Transfer pumps for base and curing agent
  • Three accumulator tanks, one for each component
  • Automatic online cleaning system with diaphragm pump, purge and cleaning trays

Operational Highlights

  • Upper applicator applies adhesive directly onto the core material
  • Lower applicator applies adhesive directly onto the lower facing
  • Each applicator has an adhesive mixing unit containing two static mixers
  • Flow controller compares adhesive volume per second with set point value to adjust pump output
  • All pumps are electrically driven
  • Cleaning cycle blows out mixed adhesive, flushes the system and returns the spreader ready for bonding
  • Control panel provides alarms for routine maintenance, pump system errors, mixing ratio and coat weight
